Tyler Russell & The Renegades

Tyler Russell & The Renegades have spent more than a decade turning Oklahoma bars, casinos and music venues into their own brand of country show. Their sound lands somewhere between modern country and Red Dirt, with plenty of energy built for a Friday night crowd.

The band got its start in 2015 when Yukon native Tyler Russell and Piedmont native Trey Nance joined forces. Since then, the Renegades have played hundreds of shows across Oklahoma, Texas and the surrounding region. And they’ve covered some familiar Oklahoma ground along the way. The band has played Toby Keith’s Bar and Grill, FireLake Grand Casino, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, Hollywood Corners and the Bricktown Summer Nights concert series.

They’ve shared stages with Stoney LaRue, Cody Canada and Mike McClure, but one night with Stoney deserves a little more explanation. During the final show at Stoney LaRue Music House in 2017, Stoney himself joined the band onstage for “Oklahoma Breakdown.” That’s one of those Oklahoma music moments you probably don’t forget.

In 2018, Tyler Russell & The Renegades released their debut independent album, Fairchild. The record introduced the band beyond the live circuit with songs including “Already Gone” and “The Heart That Breaks.” Their 2023 single, “Pretty Damn Good,” carried that sound forward after years spent writing, recording and figuring out exactly who they are as a band.

After all those miles and all those shows, Tyler Russell & The Renegades remain exactly what the name promises. They’re an Oklahoma country band with some Red Dirt running through them, and they know how to bring a room to life.
