Josh Meloy is Oklahoma to the core – a self-made songwriter with a weathered voice and songs that feel lived-in. Born and raised in the Sooner State, he comes from a musical family but carved his own path that’s leaving more of a legacy than his predecessors.
At one point Josh was working as a registered nurse, and he’s also a real estate agent. And he even considered being a firefighter. But his true passion was always music.
Somehow, while juggling a job as a nurse and trying to play gigs, he went head first into music. He started in dive bars, but it wasn’t long before he was hitting bigger stages like Billy Bob’s, the Cain’s Ballroom. And then on to bigger venues, like headlining Calf Fy, to taking the stage at Born & Raised Festival.
His music wasn’t exactly polished at first, and that was sort of the point. Tracks like “Porch Light” and “Met the Devil Down in Oklahoma” cut deep with stripped-down arrangements and unfiltered emotion. We like that down here in the Sooner State.
His latest singles like “Bad Habits”, “Home”, and “Outsider” show a growth in his songwriting skills and stronger production elements.
If you’re looking for Oklahoma country music without the gloss or gimmicks, Josh Meloy delivers. Just honest music, packed with soul.
