Jason Boland & the Stragglers are legends in the Red Dirt world, delivering unfiltered country from Oklahoma for over two decades. Born in Harrah, Boland nearly took a different path—almost heading to seminary—before enrolling at Oklahoma State University. In Stillwater, during the heart of the 1990s Red Dirt surge, he found both his voice and his band.
Their 1999 debut, Pearl Snaps, produced by Lloyd Maines, announced Boland as a leader in the next wave of Oklahoma and Texas country. Since then, they’ve sold over half a million albums and played iconic venues like The Ryman and the Grand Ole Opry. His songs are known for their gritty storytelling and rooted authenticity.
Blending classic country, outlaw spirit, and southern rock, their sound feels both timeless and tough. Collaborations with artists like Shooter Jennings and Robert Earl Keen speak to Boland’s deep respect in Americana circles.
Yet it’s their live shows that have built the legacy—relentless touring, fan-first energy, and a catalog that continues to evolve. Every performance carries the weight of experience and the spark of something real.
Jason Boland & the Stragglers didn’t chase trends—they created their own lane. In doing so, they helped shape the sound of Red Dirt for generations to come.
Jason Boland was born and raised in Harrah, Oklahoma, and later established a home base in the Austin, Texas area.
The band formed in the late 1990s in Tonkawa, OK.
